First Beauty Haul of 2014: ULTA & More

Hello Everyone!!

I have been waiting for this new year to come so I could haul some new beauty items!
I have seen so many videos and blog posts of whats new at the drug store and I wanted to get out there and see for myself.
Sometimes things on camera look so much cooler than in person which is what I found out (lol).
So I picked up some new items and some not so new that I just really wanted to try out.
I hope you enjoy my first Haul of 2014!

Hot Tools Rainbow Gold Curling Iron

I have been wanting a new curling wand for awhile now; I debated on getting a new curling iron or a straightener but lately I've been doing my hair more curly than straight so I knew getting an updated curling wand would be a lot more useful and fun.
The one I have now works great but it's only a 1 inch and I have been wanting bigger hair.
I passed by the hot tools section at ULTA and noticed they were On Sale for $39.99/originally $53.99.

On top of getting a great deal, well I think so, I was able to pick up the rainbow one which I think is so pretty!

John Frieda Radiant Red

This product was recommended to me by theMakeupAffair, who also has red hair and this is something she has used before and loved!

I recently posted a picture of my red hair on Instagram and shared how dull it became after one wash so I was looking for something new to use on my hair and she recommended this one. Which I've herd good things about; it's a red shampoo & conditioner that helps preserve the color.

Covergirl Clump Crusher & Revlon 3D Mascara

I have been needing a new mascara for awhile now I was using the L'oreal Butterfly Mascara and I realized it was making my eyes burn throughout the day. I don't want to get to much into that mascara right now, if you would like an update on that mascara let me know.

I decided to pick up a Covergirl mascara because they always work great and they always have fun new ones to try out.
Now the Revlon mascara I haven't haerd to much about from the reviews I looked up a lot of people didn't like it to much but I'd rather try it out myself. Have you tried it? Let me know.

I'm very close to running out of my go to Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation and when I saw Covergirl had a new foundation out I had to hunt it down.

At Ulta they actually didn't have many shades to choose from so I went to Ride Aid where I found it for $8.49 w/ a $1.50 coupon.

If you can get your hands on a coupon head to Walgreens because they're on sale right now for $8.99.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

This product is getting a lot of attention in the beauty community; I wanted to pick it up to see if it's worth the hype.
It's sold out everywhere including Ulta, who will not be having any new ones till Friday.
I finally got my hands on it at Walgreens for $6.99.
I looked online and it seems to be the cheapest at Target for $5.99.
I can't wait to try it, if you've had a chance to try it please share your thoughts!

Pond's Luminous Finish BB+ Cream

I actually really wanted to try this after seeing Sonia Castaneda's review.

I'm very curious to see how this products works on my skin.

My skin has actually been clearing up a lot, aside from some dark spots and scaring so, I have been leaving the house with no make up on a lot more and I would really like to have a product like this for those days when I don't want to wear make up but still want to look alive.

Find it at ULTA for $8.99; I tried looking for it at Ride Aid to compare prices and I didn't see it.

Rimmel London Show off Lip Lacquer in Comet (200)

I've never really tried Rimmel London products from what I can remember, but this lip lacquer stood out to me it's pretty new I believe. But I thought it would go well on top of a nude lipstick so I can't wait to try it.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner

Another Rimmel London product that stood out to me.

I always like trying new eyeliners and I haven't herd to much from this one, it looks pretty cool.

It's also waterproof which I'm looking forward to testing out.

ULTA Cotton Balls

Last but not least cotton balls!

I always want to pick up some of these at the drugstore but I either forget or decided not to pay like $3+ for cotton balls, but they were $1.99 at ULTA so not to bad and I remembered this time.

As I'm sure you can tell I spent a lot of time at ULTA.

I checked every section for new items and things that just stood out. They actually opened an ULTA near me so I will be able to go a lot more often which I'm very excited about.

Hello Everyone & Happy New Year!!

Today I came across some inspiring quotes on Instagram and considering we just entered a new year I wanted to share them with you all.

I hope they inspire you even if it's to make you smile or get you out of bed and do something productive and make today count ;)

I know these types of quotes get me out of bed I tell myself 'stop being lazy and get up'!

For me it's very hard to inspire my self so, I really appreciate quotes like this that make me realize 'Okay, I can do this'.

This is so true!

I can be super pumped to do something one day and be all into it and then something goes wrong and I'm done and over it.

Once I lose the motivation I no longer want to do it but if you learn to create habits it will make your life so much easier; and obviously were talking about good habits!

I can't tell you how many times I have created bad habits and all they have done is bring me down so, by applying my self and changing my ways I have learned to slowly create these good habits.

I have been told many times that I always bring my self down and I think it's my way of defending my self by either saying I messed up or I didn't know how to do something before someone else points it out.

This year I do intend to change that by being sure in my self that I know what I'm doing and to be confident in it as well.

I am the #1 person to always put my self down and this year I want to change that.

This is huge for me!

So many people in my life have told me you can't do that, that's not going to work out, what are you thinking.

At one point I began to doubt my self and I hated that feeling.

I've seen this quote before and it always reminds me to prove people wrong, that's one of the most rewarding feelings; when someone told you you couldn't and you turn it around and said you did it!

Why not stand out and prove those people wrong.

I hope this motivates you guys to do what you want and get out there and make it happen!

I'm by no means saying I do this every day and I'm always motivated trust me I'm not.

I like to complain about my 'hard life' when it's really not; I'm very blessed to have what I have and I think awhile back when I read the book 'the secret' it made me realize that.

Blogmas Day 31:Best of 2013 ~ Beauty Edition

Last day for Blogmas!
I'm very proud of my self for finishing off this month with 31 posts and for not skipping any days!! It was a lot of fun to come up with different ideas and to share some of my days with you all.

Now to end this years blogmas I decided to do this TAG of the Best of 2013.

Primer

Until this year I had never tried a face primer on it's own because I wasn't to sure how I would like them; come to find out I love this product!

It has become a part of my daily routine and it makes putting on my foundation so much easier.

Foundations

This was a tough one!

I know what my favorite is right now, but throughout the year I had many favorite foundations; these are my top favorites of this year.

Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 foundation Review.
Revlon Nearly Naked foundation Review.
The L'oreal foundation has always been a favorite since I first got it I have re-purchased it at least 3x.
It's always my back up foundation when I try a foundation and don't like it I can always count on it.

Concealer

I'm not to sure what concealer I was loving the whole year but this has been one of my recent favorites.

I don't always end up using it, I only use it when I have break outs or when I have bags underneath my eyes to hide.

Powder

This powder has been amazing!

It leaves my face feeling matte and yet not cakey, it gives a natural look even when used on top of foundation. I have personally not used it alone but I do love using it on top of a bb cream as well, because bb creams can be very oily looking this powder sets it just right.

Bronzer/Blush Palettes

I used the flower blush&bronzer set for a long time.

I really like how the bronzer contoured my cheeks and the pinky blush just looked so pretty.

They both have shimmer but my face doesn't end up looking glittery at all.

The bh cosmetics glamour palette has such great colors!

But my favorite I'm sure you can tell is the bronzy color on the bottom left corner.

I have been using it non stop I like the bronze look it gives to my face and I don't even add any blush.

(I talk more about this palette in my September Favorites).

Highlighter

Over the summer I was obsessed with this highlighter it's so pretty and leaves a nice shimmer on the checks.

Brow

Almost the whole year I used my ELF eye brow. It's such a good product for only $3's.

I need to remember to pick up a new one.

With me dying my hair different colors throughout the year I stopped paying attention to my brows, I just began to brush them out and groom them.

Later in the year my mom let me have this Milani eye brow kit; I had herd good things so I gave it a try.

I like that the shadows are lighter so I can lightly shape my brows without giving them to much attention.

Eye Shadow Palettes

I like my eye make up to be very simple I normally just do one shade on my whole eye lid and add some eye liner and I'm ready to go.

Both of these Clinique palettes were gifts and I ended up almost finishing the small one.

Like I said I use one shade and the just apply highlight to the inner tear duct and the brow bone. I love the colors in both of these palettes and I know they will be my favorites for awhile.

Eye Liner

I have tried many different eye liners this year. I'm not even sure how many but this has definitely been one of my favorites I have re-purchased it so it remains one of my favorites for this year.

Mascaras

I have tried so many mascaras this year from the Rocket Mascara to the Revlon Lash Potion and the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara's.

I don't think I had any that I hated they all had good things about them but these two were some of my favorites.

The Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara has two sides to it, both worked really good and it was fun to use.

The L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara has worked amazing on my lashes it makes them look so long and because I wear glasses I like my lashes to stand out a bit.

Lipsticks

I couldn't pick one so I thought I'd share my favorites of the whole year.

From the beginning of the year I have worn this Flower beauty lipstick in Petal Kiss, it's a coral color and so pretty and natural looking. It leaves your lips matte and the color lasts a very long time for a drug store lipstick.

Hands down one of my favorite lipsticks has to be L'oreals' fairest nude (800). I love nude colors they go with everything and this one is such a pretty pinky nude I use it all year round.

My newest favorite is thie NYX lipstick in Thalia.

Such a smooth lipstick it glides on nicely and gives a pop of nude color.

Lip Gloss

I don't use many lip glosses but I was a bit obsessed with this one over the summer.

It's a pretty gloss that goes with almost any lipstick. I enjoyed it.

Blogmas Day 27: NYX HD Studio Photogenique Primer Base Review

I've been using this primer for a couple of weeks now and I think I've tried it long enough to share my thoughts on this product.

What it Claims:

It claims to fill in pores, minimize appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It mattifies complexion for a seamless finish. Ensures durability of make up, even in harsh lighting.

What does talc mean?

It's a grainy mineral consisting of hydrated magnesium silicate which has a drying effect; It's basically a powered like mineral that makes your skin dry. Source

What are Parabans?

They are preservatives used in most personal care products; they stop fungus, bacteria and other microbes from growing in you beauty products. Source.

First Impressions:

When I first used this product I found it very weird I wasn't sure how to apply it or how much I needed.

The first couple of times I used it I applied way to much and my face looked white as a ghost; and when I took pictures with flash I had a white cast which I wasn't happy about.

Formula:

It's a thick consistency but after you get use to it it's very easy to work with.

It dries pretty quickly but it's not drying to the face.

In the picture below I used a lot of product so you would be able to see the consistency of the product.

Quick Tip:

You only need a couple of drops of this stuff to apply on your face; trust me.

I normally apply half a pump.

If you use to much of this product you will get that white cast (see picture below)

Overall:

After using this primer for over a month I have fallen in love with it.

It leaves my face matte just like it claims and I feel like it prepares it for the foundation.

Especially when I have break outs I feel like after applying this it evens out the area so when I apply foundation it's a little smoother and the foundation doesn't cake up that area.

I quickly got over the problem I had with taking pictures with flash simply by using less product.

When I take pictures my skin looks clear and very smooth.

I think this primer does just what it claims because I have a lot of fine lines from my smile on my cheeks and this does a great job at minimizing it.

I give it a 4 out of 5.

I try to share as much information as possible when I review a product and I hope you found the definitions at the beginning helpful; I wasn't sure what one of the words meant and I don't feel comfortable using a word I don't even know what it means so I hope it was all very helpful.
